About Maximus
Effective and complete instruction in mathematics. New to tutoring. Fluent in K-12 mathematics. My passion is teaching.
Subject matter may range from addition to calculus, whatever the student needs. More advanced topics, including proofs, complex numbers, linear algebra, and vector calculus may also be discussed.
Teaching style is flexible based on the students personality. Multiple mediums can be used for a single phenomenon. For example: a pair of coordinates, an algebraic expression, or a picture. The goal is to convey understanding; having multiple strategies creates more opportunities to reach this goal.
Math should be a tool used by people. My goal is to prevent it from being a monster that chews you up!
I am new to teaching for pay. I feel that I am good at it based on my casual experiences of teaching friends and family.
Public education K-12 in California.

Exchanging contact info and establishing a schedule of when we will have lessons. Have a discussion about what the student's goals are, whether for school or otherwise, and how they feel about math. This helps me prepare. Generally, a student decides what content is taught in the lesson, based on what they want to learn or where they are in their course.
