About Morgan
I am a 22 year old Accounting Major with a minor in Theatre at a liberal arts university with a massive soft spot for math.
Originally a math major, I have had a deep love for mathematics and logic in general for my entire life. My love for the topic may not always be infectious, but I have spent many years teaching my friends and family the value and fun in learning math, and my understanding of mathematics allows me to explain it in non-traditional ways that have proven to be easier for those who are not naturally inclined to understand math in the way that it is normally taught.
I am a patient teacher with years of experience tutoring people in elementary school math all the way up to GRE prep for my older peers. I am adaptable and always happy to accomodate my students.
Before I began tutoring, I worked as an assistant Children's Librarian and for several years as a nanny and babysitter, and before that I helped raise my four younger siblings, so I have seen the full spectrum of the reality of working with children. Now, in my minor of theatre, I have gained a great understanding of interpersonal relationships and atypical communication styles that makes me confident I can work with any older students as well.
I am honest and genuine, and I assure you that, if there is ever a moment I do not know how to help, I will be up front and help you find someone who can better assist you or your student.
I have always adored the field of mathematics, and find it genuinely heartbreaking to know that so many people are discouraged by the dated methods of teaching the topic to the point of disliking mathematics. I enjoy tutoring math because I love to see the delight in my students faces when they begin understanding the topics and are able to see how fun it can be to solve the little puzzles that the math problems present. I will not be discouraged if you or your student do not fall in love with math the way I have, I do not expect you to, but I do expect that at least some of my enthusiasm will rub off! :)
-I have taken upper level mathematics courses through Calculus III, as well as the majority of Accounting classes required for a bachelors' degree.
-I have spent the last eight or so years available as a babysitter/nanny, working with children from ages 5 months to 10 years.
-I worked for a year at a public library as the assistant children's librarian, reading for our weekly Story Times and visiting local elementary schools to read to the children.
-I have worked as a freelance tutor for several years, helping children in elementary school through to my peers applying to graduate school.
-I spent a summer as a camp counselor for my university's Children's Theatre Camp where we assisted children from ages 9 to 15 through the process of preparing for a play.
-I have taken a Directing course, where I learned how to constructively instruct people and create a collaborative working environment.

I prefer to defer to the student for processes, and am able to adapt to their specific needs. Generally, though, I tend to prefer a method of working through problems in real time alongside the student, comparing answers, and then determining how we each reached our conclusions.
