About Colleen
I am a passionate, energetic, and experienced teacher with a bachelor's degree in Elementary and Middle School Special and General Education (EC-MA). I have certifications in teaching English as a foreign language and phonics and am trained in many academic and social-emotional interventions. I utilize top curriculums such as Bridges mathematics and Heggerty phonics. Ensuring that education is effective and enjoyable is important to me- students should love learning as much as I love teaching!
I value making connections with each student and designing individualized instruction/intervention to support their growth. For this reason, I moved from working full-time as an elementary and middle school special education teacher and general education interventionist to full-time private tutoring. With one-on-one or small group private tutoring and using consistent, structured, evidence-based instruction, students can excel beyond what is feasible in a typical classroom.
