As an educator, nothing beats seeing that 'I got it!' face. I know what it's like to struggle with topics and what it's like to connect with a great tutor. I enjoy bringing these things to as many students as I can!
I have been a tutor for 7 years, beginning as a private tutor in high school and continuing as a peer tutor in the Academic Center for Excellence at Florida State University. I graduated from FSU with a bachelor's degree in Biological Science but have experience tutoring many students in courses outside of biology including mathematics and physics.

Establishing the baseline! What I've found to be quite effective is figuring out where my student is at and where we need to get to, in terms of mastering the material being taught in class. Given that students learn in so many different ways, I believe it is best to start with a customized approach.
I have worked with students at multiple educational levels from elementary school students to adults returning to college for further education.
Find someone that has a level of experience that matches your needs. Also, because you are paying for a service, find someone that you feel is trustworthy and are comfortable with.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
This is very important to a successful teaching session! As much as it is up to the educator to be ready to help the student, some responsibility also falls on the student to be ready to learn. Be prepared with any notes, questions, and other materials that you have. As the teacher, this helps me help you because I can see exactly what the topics are and how they're being presented in class. Also, think about what you don't know. By that I mean come to a lesson with an idea of what you need help with so we can right down to business quickly and effectively.
