First, I like to develop a firm understanding of a new student's needs. This allows me to get to know their strengths and familiarize myself with how they learn best. Next, I like to ask students for particular problems or topics that they might need assistance with. From there, I walk them through these problems from start to finish. Once I feel that the student has understood this specific problem, I move onto alternate problems that will also help them to gain understanding.
