About Cara
I have a background in STEM teaching for elementary-high schoolers with my background in Americorps. I am also working towards my PhD in oceanography, so I do understand working on many different tasks at once.
I have been in school for 18 years, so I do understand the importance and confidence that comes with receiving good grades.
I love public outreach and teaching anybody of any age basic science and math techniques.
After I graduated from FSU, I took a gap year and worked for Americorps in Florida. The program was called "Grasses in Classes," and I was able to teach a STEM curriculum to elementary school kids in 22 different schools. I also assisted in other higher level STEM curriculums under the Americorps name.
I have worked in science and math for the majority of my schooling. I received a biology degree (with honors) from Florida State University in three years. During that time period, I worked on internships with NASA (freshman summer) and NOAA (second summer) on varying degree of scientific and math subjects. I have a strong background in utlizing remote sensing data and coding as well. I currently am working on my PhD in oceanography at the College of Marine Science at the University of South Florida.

We will set a baseline of what you know and don't based on curriculum. I will help with problem areas based on past quizzes and exams to see areas where we need to improve since most science and math builds on itself. I like to help students work through problems and only assist when I need to.
I have worked with special ed students up to accelerated learning students.
