I am a new educator with a background in economics and philosophy, earned at UC Santa Barbara. I love learning, finding it difficult to confine my passion to a single discipline. Students I have helped often require assistance with math and writing, but I love to take the opportunity to make connections among all of their subjects, to open up new interests for them, and to develop their established interests.
I am a math teacher at Yuba River Charter School.
I have a bachelors degree with majors in economics and philosophy, two years of experience as a private and public school math teacher, and I am enrolled in a credential program to teach math at the high school and junior high levels.

I like to have a conversation about the student's academic goals, their interests, and their expectations prior to starting lessons. Once we have laid the foundation, I encourage frequent questions–students know best what they need to learn, the role of the tutor is to help them clarify their questions.
