About Elizabeth
I have been in education for decades. I am a mom of 6 and have homeschooled grades PreK to 8, preparing my kids for success in high school and beyond. I have also been a tutor in schools and after school programs through the Boys and Girls Club, Perspectives Inc, and Minnesota Math Corps. Education is my passion. I am currently offering private tutoring while I pursue my teaching licensure in grades 9-12 Earth and Space Science.
The satisfaction I get when my students have those light bulb moments is priceless. It is such a joy to see. I also love using unique and fun methods to help kids love learning again.
I graduated summa cum laude with an Individualized Studies BA from Metropolitan State University with a focus on Ecological Human Development, as well as holding a Montessori Assistant certificate from the Minnesota Montessori Center. I am pursuing a teaching licensure in science, but also excel at English and have trained with Americorps in tutoring grades 3-8 mathematics.

If I'm tutoring as a homework helper, I spend a little time getting to know the student and developing rapport, but then we get right to work on their assignments. When I'm tutoring for remedial or enrichment purposes, the first few tutoring sessions I get to know the student and their abilities. We also do some assessments to see what they know and where they need help so I can target my lessons to have the most impact.

She’s engaging, patient, and works at his level
My son loves working with Liz. He looks forward to his weekly visits from her and is so bummed if I ever have to cancel. Since working with Liz, he has improved on his reading and writing skills greatly, not just that but he actually enjoys doing it. She comes to every session prepared to teach my son something new and in a fun way. I can hear them learning and laughing and just having a good time.
