About Jacob
Tutoring is not just for students who are at risk of failing, whether you are a D student trying to get to a C, or a B students striving for the A, tutors are here to help. During my two and a half years tutoring mathematics at Roger Williams University, I learned the importance of individualized learning styles and how to adapt to what each student needs to suceed. Having now graduated from RWU and with moving on to a Doctorate program in Veterinary Medicine, I want to spend some of my extra time supporting those students who need it the most.
I have two and a half years tutoring experience from my time at Roger Williams University. This involed individual tutoring sessions, group sessions, and test prep for courses including calculus 1, finite math, college algebra, and trigonometry.

When I first meet with a student I think it's important to set a basis for what they expect to get out of the session. This would involve trouble topics, sepcific problem help, and assessing what it is that confused them in the first place. Once we know where the problems lie we can begin working to dinw different ways to approach or learn a topic so that it better fits with their learning style. Most often I would conplete a session by having them do practice problems while talking me through their process becasue talking through a problem often helps to weed out the final tripping points for the student.
