About Charles

Since receiving my Bachelor's in Mathematics in 2012, I have tutored several students independently, all of whom improved their overall grade. More importantly, every student I have tutored has increased their overall understanding so they can be confident working independently over time. I have mostly helped with middle and high school students, but have helped a few college students as well. I am well versed in any math course K-12.

I truly enjoy teaching math for a variety of reasons. It has always been an easy subject for me, and being able to help students better understand it is very rewarding. The way some teachers explain math in the classroom can be confusing and intimidating. Being able to tutor one-on-one is very helpful for the student, as well as myself. I can see how their thought-process works, and apply it to whatever subject they are struggling with.

When I was in college, I tutored 4 different students (ranging from middle school to high school). Since then, I have helped tutor family members, and kids of family members or friends.

I graduated from Regis University in 2012 with my Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics.

I like to have the student try to explain what they are struggling with, and then I like to go through the assignment(s) with them.

I first have them try to solve the problems on their own. If they are able to do some of the problems (or portions of some problems), I can see the errors in their work. This helps me get a better understanding of their thought-process, and I can then cator my tutoring to the individual student.

If the student needs help with the entire assignment/class, I will walk through how to solve every problem with them. After explaining the solution, I will make up a similar problem and have them try to solve it on their own before moving on to the next question.

I worked with students from elementary school to college, but mostly with middle school students.

Think about teachers in school who have made class the easiest and most fun, and try to find a tutor that is similar. In the case of math, think of a teacher who really helped you understand math in previous classes.

I was married to the love of my life in October, 2020! She and I live in Denver, CO with our dog Abby.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Try to think about what specifically you are struggling with. This is hard to do, but if you have specifics that is tremendously helpful to your teacher. If you have no idea, ask your teacher for tips and tricks while going through your homework that will help you understand when you are on your own.
