About Fermin
In Newtonian Tutoring, we strive to keep our clients excelling in mathematics or your money back guaranteed. I've been tutoring since 2017. I've helped start a afterschool program called LEAP (Latino Early Academic Pathway) Program at San Benito High School in Hollister, California while attending community college. I teamed up with Gavilan Colllege because I saw the lack of external resources the education system had for underrepresented Latino communities. As a Latino and English being my second language, I understand how it may be difficult to learn some subjects, but with time and hardwork anything is possible. I'm a striving Biological Systems Engineer participating in Genetic research at UC Davis looking to graduate Spring 2020.

FInding out that my collegues/peers have excelled in the subject they were struggling in brings me great satisfaction. I think it can serve as a chain reaction, hoping one day they take the time to tutor someone to hopefully find their calling. It was thanks to my mentor tutoring me that I found the love for math. This is why I chose to study Engineering at UC Davis.
My love for tutoring started when I became more involved in my local communty college. The more I got involved extracurricularly, the better I got at various subjects like Mathematics, Biology and Organic Chemstry. In essence, I soon found myself mentoring/tutoring my peers. It ultimately made me learn the content better.
I've been a tutor for 3 years now and I participated in many extracuriccular STEM based conferences that aids a student's educational development.

Before working with an individual, I'd like to assess their level of math. If they're able to send me problems or their type of work before hand via email, the better. I'd like to make the most of the time we have together in order to be most efficient.
I've worked with students of all ages. From middle school to high school to adults attending community college.
The best advice I can give to a student looking to hire a teacher in a subject they're looking to strive in, is to find someone that's going to spend the extra time to make sure you're excelling. One that will keep tabs to ensure you'll succeed.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Any question is a valid question. A student should never be afraid to ask their teacher any sort of question pertaining the subject of interest. Some things students should think about before talking to teachers about their needs is 'How well do I know this subject?', 'How committed am I to overcome this subject?".

He’s very attentive to what I need help on and knows how to approach people. He goes out of his way to help me with my work and never hesitated to help answer the many questions I have.
