In the first meeting, we usually spend around 5 to 10 minutes deciding the appropriate goals for the student and discussing a plan to meet them. Then I will typically gauge the baseline of the student to know where we are starting from.
I have worked with students as young as 5 to as old as 26. However, if you don't fit in that range don't worry! I'm always looking to expand.
Find a tutor that works with you and wants you to succeed. I love to work with my students, but when I think they have completely grasped the subject they "graduate" from my tutorship. If someone wants to stay, I challenge them to prepare them for future courses, but that is a path I recommend is discussed with their parents.
