About Kevin
My name is Kevin Stein, and I am currently a Junior science pre-professional student at the Univeristy of Notre Dame with plans to attend medical school. I am majoring in Science-Business and minoring in Compassioante Care in Medicine. I am a teachers assisstant for Biology: Molucles to Ecosystem, so I have experience teaching Biology to freshman and sophmore students at Notre Dame. I have a passion for teaching and believe I obtain a unique skillset of making complex cocepts seem easy! Within the science realm, I can also tutor in chemistry and physics at any highschool level. In addition to sceince, I am more than comfortbale teaching any high school level Math and writing intensive course. I love teaching with enthusiasm with the goal of making learning seem fun and ultimately make strides in the student's momentum of learning. I hope to help you out!
I love working with kids of all ages and especially high school students. It hasn't been too long since I was in high school, so I feel as if I can very much relate to the stressors kids are going through right now. My favorite aspect of working with highschool kids is through completing a given assignment, I am able to help him or her develop an appreaciation for the material. In this way, kids realize there is an importance to what they are learning and are therefore are more motivated to learn in the future.
I was selected to be a teachers assisstant in my Biology class at Notre Dame. Specifically, the class is made up of freshman and sophmores. In addition, I have three younger sibling (7th grade, 10th grade and 12th grade) that I have spent time tutoring whenver they have questions.
I am teacher's assisstant for a college level Biology course (Biooy: Molecules to Ecosystems) at the Uiversity of Notre Dame. Therefore, I have ample expereince working one on one with students as well as conducting reveiw sessions with a room full students. Teaching has really grown to be a passion of mine, and nothing makes me more excited than seeing a student's reaction after learning a difficult concept.

I understand that every student is unique and therefore I tailor my tuoting style to that which is most effective for for the specific student. Before we jump into any material, I want to begin my taking the time to allow the student to explain to me what exactly he or she hopes to obtain from my services. As a result, I am better able to conenct with the student and work more effeciently to accomplish the student's ultimate goals.
I have worked extensively with Freshaman and Sophomore science students in college. However, I have also worked a lot in many general areas with my younger siblings who are in 7th, 10th, and 12th grade.
If you could send me the worksheet/study guide that you would like to go over before our session, that would be great! By knowing what we will go over, I am able to make a plan as to how I can most effectively relay the important pieces of information to you.
I am especially fond of my recent experience with one of the Physics teacher's assisstants while studying for the final exam. She had a very good understanding of exactly what I was looking to accomplish and led me on a clear path of studying to accomplishing it. I think a big hurdle for many students is simply uderstnding how to begin studying. This specific teachers assisstant did a great job of showing me what I needed to study, and I hope to do the same for you!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think students should first try to name a couple topics that they are struggling with and also name a couple topics that they do understand. Even if a student feels compeltelty lost, this mentality is more effective than the "I'm so lost teach me everything mentality." Despite feeling like we don't know anything, odds are we do know some of the material, and we can use that knowledge as a jumping off point for understanding more complex topics. In additon, by naming the couple topics that the student doesn't understand, the student is then able to (themselves) make the connection between the material he or she initlaly knew and struggled with. I believe this is an effective way of achieving the ultmate goal of developing the student's momentum of learning.
