About Mackenzie
I am a college student at Tulane University majoring in Mathematics and Computer Science, with extensive knowledege math classes up to Linear Algebra. As a college student, I am able to connect with students better because I finished high school not that long ago. Furthermore, I graduated in the top 1% of my high school class, and maintain a 4.0 GPA at Tulane. I have over a year of experince of tutoring students from high school algebra to college calculus. I have a real passion for mathematics, and love to share this with everyone I come across! I pride myself on teaching math in a way that values collaboration and never talking down to students. I want to see the students I work with thoroughly enjoy math, and I will come up with creative ways to do this!
I have always helped my math teachers in school by explaining concepts to my fellow classmates, and I realized I loved teaching math to others! I'm always someone my friends can come to for help on math.
I graduated high school in the top 1% of my high school class, having taken AP Calculus AB & BC and AP Statistics. At Tulane, I am a mathematics and computer science major, having taken Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Discrete Math. I have also privately tutored math students for over a year.

I first gauge the topics they need the most help with by having them work a problem or two by themselves. From their work, I can see their areas of struggle and explain these topics further in accompanying examples.
I have worked primarily with high school students with varying degrees of mathematical knowledge/background.
My advice is to go to a few tutors at first, and then narrow down to which one you get along with the best. Teaching math is subjectuve, and the way one person expalins it might not make as much sense as someone else explaining it. Explore your options!
As much as I love math, I also love to write, so I became a writer for the news section of the Tulane Hullabaloo (student newspaper) last semester. They were looking for editors on the board, and I decided to apply on a whim. I ended up getting the job, and am now an editor of the Arcade (arts and entertainment) section.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think students should think about what they really want from tutoring, and find a teacher that suits these needs. A student might want more examples in session than notes, so finding a tutor that aligns with this is important.
