About Anne
I'm a Physicist by day who really enjoys bringing students in to the joys of math and science. I understand that math and science are scary to a lot of students, I was there too once. But with some friendly and fun work, I hope we can work together to meet your math and science goals!
I love helping students get their lightbulb moment where things finally make sense.
I was raised by a teacher and I have always loved school and education. I found early on that I was good at finding ways to explain difficult concepts in physics to students, and to guide them to a place of comfort with the material. A lot of people seem to think that you either can or can't do math/science, but really, no one is born knowing this so all if it can be learned!
I have a PhD in Particle physics, and I have been teaching and tutoring since 2007.

I normally start with a conversation about the student's goals in working together. I want to explain my normal teaching style (lots of question asking and actively working together towards an answer), and make sure that expectations on all sides are understood. I want to know what the student needs!
I have worked with students from middle school through college, and students who are coming back to school after some time away.
Make sure you feel comfortable asking questions of your tutor. If you don't feel comfortable asking questions, it probably isn't a good fit.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about what your goals are in working with a tutor. If you just need to pass the class, that's ok, but let your tutor know so they can focus their efforts there. If you're looking for additional information and want a deeper understanding, that's good to know too! It is always helpful for a student to arrive at a session having read through the material and tried to work through the problems themselves first.

Perfect! I had to take a couple College Physics classes and I was struggling with the material only a couple weeks in. I began working with Anne and she was able to help me understand the material better than the book and the classroom. She has a great way of relating difficult concepts with everyday situations to make those concepts easier to grasp. I'm grateful to have had Anne as my tutor because not only did I pass the classes but I received excellent grades.
