About Elizabeth
I have extensive experience tutoring students of various ages, from first grade through college. As a graduate of Johns Hopkins with degrees in Biology, Public Health, and Environmental Science, I specialize in math and science tutoring. I am confident that I can enhance any student's understanding of their course material, while also improving their homework grades and test scores.

In working with a new student, I like to begin by introducing myself and ensuring the student feels comfortable working with me. This allows for open and clear communication in the next step, understanding where the student is currently at in the designated subject. Before beginning our work, it is crucial that the student and I are on the same page about what areas need the most work and what our final goals are. This may involve talking through trouble areas with the student, looking at past homework or tests, or completing some practice problems so that I can gauge what needs the most work. From there, we'll jump in and start working on subjects the student is struggling with, completing practice problems and tests along the way so I can measure our progress.
I have worked with a variety of students, from all different backgrounds, in a wide range of subjects. This includes general tutoring for elementary students at various levels, math and science tutoring for middle/high schoolers, and course-specialized tutoring for my peers at Hopkins. I've also tutored students in French language skills.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Before talking with teachers about their needs, students should evaluate their own goals. By understanding what they hope to gain from working with a teacher, it will be easier to find a teacher that matches their interests and goals. In addition, it will allow for clear communication between the student and teacher from the start.
