About Arin
I've been a private math tutor since 2013, my junior year in college. I love sharing knowledge and helping others overcome their fear of mathematics. It's so rewarding to watch my students gain confidence in their studies and their abilities.
I'm now a working professional and am currently working on an online master's degree through Penn State, but continue tutoring on the side since it is my passion. I've tutored Algebra, Advanced Algebra, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus. Every single student I've tutored has seen an improvement in their grade.

I absolutely love math and science. I currently work as a data analyst for an oil company. Beyond that, knowledge-sharing is my passion. I love teaching and helping others. Additionally, I love learning new ways of approaching problems.
Working with students remotely also helps me reach more students! It saves me from having to drive all around town and I can also work with students outside of the city.
I've always loved math since I was a kid. During my senior year in high school, I fell in love with calculus and really began to appreciate mathematics much more. I passed my AP Calculus exam which gave me college credit for Calc I. In college, I pursued a degree in geology, which required I complete up to Calc II, which I received an A in.
This is around the time I began tutoring high school math: geometry, algebra, advanced algebra, and pre-calculus. I've been working with high schoolers and college students as a side job for 7 years now. I absolutely love math and love sharing my passion for it with others.

First and foremost, my goal is to be available inside and outside of our scheduled meetings, through email. I want my students to be able to ask any questions when they get stumped, so I can help them move forward and progress. I try to be available as much as possible to make sure they're always getting the help they need.
My approach is to guide the student, by asking the right questions, to see how far they can get on their own. When we reach a hurdle, I can pinpoint where they are struggling and we can target that specific topic. I generally give some separate examples to hammer down the topic and then we bring the new knowledge back to the problem-at-hand. I believe repetition is key to solidifying our understanding, so going through multiple problems of the same kind is important. I share as many memorization and study techniques as I can to help my students retain the information as much as possible.
