About Anna
Our team has been tutoring in various subjects at all levels for several years. We are comprised of licensed teachers, content experts, and many other highly qualified educators. We can help students of all ages in any subject through academic coaching, content tutoring, and standardized test prep.
We’re be able to meet with you in person wherever you’d like, whether it be a library, your place, a local coffee shop, or online through our digital whiteboard, where we annotate documents and dialogue with students in real-time, just like in person.
Regarding scheduling, we recommend booking week to week to accommodate everyone’s busy schedule, but we are happy to set a consistent timeframe if you have one in mind.
For pricing, if you go through our k-12 grant program, the tutoring is FREE, as we’ve partnered with the Shane Thurston Foundation to offer a grant that enables students to use our tutoring services at no cost. Processing time is usually a couple of weeks for the grant, though we’re happy to retroactively credit your hourly balance once the award (5 hours) is granted. Students can earn up to four grants (20 hours) per calendar year.
If you don’t want to pursue free tutoring through the grant, we are currently offering discounted bulk packages or the flexibility of paying session by session. We offer our first session risk-free, so you only pay if you are satisfied and think it’s a good fit. We also offer group & military discounts on top of that!
You can find more pricing info, details on how the process works, and testimonials at flatironstutoring.com.
Our founder Cris started tutoring in 2013 for North Central College, where he was a student and football player. He tutored Physics and Math to his peers, ranging from Calculus to Differential Equations and Newtonian Mechanics to Quantum Theory. He eventually branched out to tutor to students in the local area, focusing on STEM, general homework help, studying for assessments, and working on life-skills. He brought his expertise back to the Denver Metro Area, where he grew up, and has grown the tutoring team to include over 30 content and instructional experts.
Our founder Cris has a B.S. in Physics & Secondary Education, along with a minor in Mathematics. He has a teaching license in Illinois and Colorado, where he has taught Physics and Math, and is currently pursuing the prestigious National Board Certification in Mathematics. He has been tutoring and teaching for over 9 years, working with a wide range of students with varying goals, including general homework help, maximizing SAT scores, gaining acceptance into choice colleges, earning merit-based scholarships, and more.
He and all of our tutors have tutored in or taught a wide range of courses in all subjects. We have elementary tutors that specialize in literacy instruction have intervention training certifications to support struggling readers and writings. We want to know what your goals are for tutoring, whether it be sustained instruction to supplement school work, help completing homework, maximizing your SAT/ACT test score, or anything else! By understanding your goals, we work together to develop a tailored game plan to help fulfill your needs and help you succeed. We provide immediate, detailed, and specific feedback to you during tutoring sessions, using curriculum from your school, curriculum we have developed, or any other resources that may apply (College Board, textbooks, etc.). We will ensure to diagnose what your strengths and weaknesses are, and help you develop the studying and test taking strategies that best align with how you work, empowering you to perform with confidence.
We have worked with a wide range of students in a wide range of topics, ranging from 3rd Grade Math all the way up to College Level Physics. We have also tutored students with ADHD and similar executive function deficits, ensuring to differentiate instruction to keep students engaged through Socratic questioning, kinesthetic learning, and more. We have also worked with highly successful students and valedictorians seeking to maximize their SAT score to earn merit based scholarships and gain entry into prestigious universities such as Duke and Brown. In short, we have worked with all kinds of students from all ages in all subjects, and are equipped to support every student in need of support.
Work with someone dedicated to helping you meet your specific needs and goals in an efficient way, while also developing student autonomy. The best teachers and tutors don’t let students rely on them, but instead teach them how to think, solve problems, study well, and how to learn best.
We recently helped a student prepare for the SAT, helping her maximize her score to earn entry into her dream college and also earn scholarship money. We used the College Board practice tests and targeted instruction to help identify areas to improve, teach techniques to properly manage time, simulate taking the test, and develop strategies for each section and question type. This took about two months of work over the summer, around 10 sessions total where we met once a week. Her scores jumped by over 120 points!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Have you had experience teaching someone similar to my student? How will you build trust and rapport with my student? How can I ensure you are reliable and can meet my needs?
Review
All of our reviews are collected by us and are 100% reliable. They correspond to a real experience lived by the students of Anna.
Perfect! Great at explaining math concepts. Helped me improve my ACT score around 2-3 points in one session.
Perfect! When researching tutors, Cris’s tutoring business seemed the best fit for me. He was able to meet me at the local coffee shop by my house, accommodated for meeting me based on my busy schedule, and listened to all of my goals for the SAT. Before tutoring, I wasn’t exactly sure of how to study for the SAT and how to apply myself in understanding the content. After my first practice test, we went through each of the questions that I got wrong and thoroughly focused on why I didn’t understand it. The repetition of this helped me so much that my score improved by over 300! Cris has access to so many helpful materials and practice tests, which really came in handy. I definitely would recommend Cris as a tutor to anybody hoping to get their scores up.
Perfect! Hired to help my daughter in last segments of her Calc class. Cristian was excellent help and very responsive when needed.

Very happy with our experience, my son's timeline was very limited and he needed to improve his Math ACT by 1 or 2 points. Mr. Chacon found the perfect match for him with Dom, she was incredibly smart and explained it exactly how my son needed it. His score improved by 4 points!!
he was a good tutor not so much as i got to use him but he treated me with kindness and respect i never got to use him i did not but if i could i would give him a 10,000
My daughter has always struggled with math. The tutors with Flatirons made a big difference. She ended up with an A in geometry! They made the process very easy by coming to our home and determining the day and time as she needed help.
Mr. Chacon has been a very influential teacher in my life. I initially had him in 9th grade for algebra I and then in 11th grade for physics II. Throughout high school, he tutored me in math, science and SAT prep. By the time it came time to write my senior thesis, I approached Mr. Chacon to ask if he'd be my advisor. Fortunately, he agreed to work with me. My senior thesis ended up being selected as one of the top three. I am extremely grateful for all the support Mr. Chacon has provided me throughout high school.
-- Bhavana MooreCris did an awesome job with helping my with physics and math, gives great feedback and helps any way he can.
Flatirons tutoring was super helpful, I learned a lot more than just what the classes taught me and I would definitely recommend to anyone in need of some extra help. On top of that my tutors have been very knowledgeable and professional at what they do
I think this tutoring helped me in the summer to be prepared for whatever subject I was working on also helping me in the school year knowing what to do for that subject.
Flatirons Tutoring is an asset to our community and we would highly recommend using this service for SAT/ACT prep or any specific subject support. Our high school senior worked with Cris in math, reading, and science to bolster his current course performance and prepare for college entrance exams. We saw growth in our son's confidence, ability, and scores which enabled him to be competitive when applying for scholarships and colleges. Although first reluctant to spend the money and time on a tutoring service, we are grateful to have found Cris and realize it was well worth the investment!
We had a great experience with this program and would highly recommend!! My son was coming off a rough year of high school due to Covid restrictions and really regressed on his math. He was in Honors math and struggling mightily. Cris worked with him on a weekly basis and built his foundational knowledge back up to the point where he's in AP Calculus in this final year of HS and averaging over a 95 with a 100 on a couple of tests! I credit this Cris' program with understanding how my son thinks and works and setting up a study plan that catered to his strengths.
We have had a great experience working with Chris and Amy. They have worked with our daughter as needed over the last 2 years. Our daughter doesn’t like to ask for help if she doesn’t understand concepts but she never gets intimidating working with them. Thanks for the consistent and professional service and always understanding you are working with kids.
Cris has done a fabulous job of tutoring Algebra 2 to my daughter. It is her least confident subject and Cris has done a great job teaching her the concepts in a way that my daughter can easily understand. She really enjoys working with him.
Cris has helped my kids with math and AP physics. He is such a wonderful teacher!! His knowledge and way of teaching have been extremely valuable. Many thanks to him and will continue using him as long as needed.
Cris Chacon has provided invaluable support to our daughter over the past 4 years. We adopted our daughter from Nepal in 2019. She was 13 years old and spoke very little English. There were large gaps in her understanding of basic mathematical concepts. She especially struggled with word problems. Fortunately, she had Cris as her 9th grade Algebra I teacher. He helped her tremendously that year. We started private tutoring lessons and SAT preparation with him the following year. Cris has really helped our daughter to fill in the gaps in her previous education and to gain more confidence in math.
Cris is professional, very responsive to our needs and adjustments to scheduling very quickly. My students excelled and improved study habits for other courses. Highly recommend Chris.
We have been thrilled with Flatirons Tutoring. Our match with our tutor SJ could not have been more perfect. The approach SJ has with both of our children who have learning disabilities is incredible. SJ is able to refocus the children when they get off track or frustrated and always brings new learning strategies to the table. We can not recommend Flatirons tutoring more!!!!
Cris was a great find for my son who was a Junior in High School! He struggled with Algebra II all year and honestly if it wasn't for Cris he would have failed. My son has expressed several times how much better Cris is at explaining the problems then his own teachers, he was able to learn a different way then what was being taught in class. Cris is super professional, has flexibility with schedules and very responsive when we were in a bind to crunch for finals or an exam. If you are currently looking for a tutor for your child, you need to look no further!
Cris worked with my son in mathematics catching him up before his Freshman year. My son had missed nearly a year and a half of direct instruction, and with Cris's tutoring support he received straight A's in math this year!
Cris worked with my 9th grader (Algebra 1) from Spring Break through final exams this year - it made a huge impact. He explained how to work out problems that she had been struggling with in a way she clearly understood. She improved her grade immensely, but even more importantly, she has regained confidence. We will not hesitate to work with Cris again - thank you!
Cris did a great job helping my child understand Algebra II this year. Highly recommend!
He really helped with preparing for advanced placement calculus. The online meetings with screen sharing were a big time saver.
Cris has tutored both of my daughters on various level of math, ranging from Algebra 1 to IB Physics. My daughters love how he explains concepts using his iPad and visually demonstrates how to solve the problem. He has been very flexible with timing, especially if we have a last minute request.
I highly recommend Flatirons Tutoring for any high schooler that is looking for some help in complex subjects! Cris was such a help for our daughter that was struggling with Physics. Cris has a gift of not only working with high school kids but also for breaking down complex topics into manageable pieces!
Before Flatirons Tutoring, my SAT score was very low; Then, when I started tutoring sessions with Flatirons, I started to understand what I needed to work on and ways improve on that specific area, with the help of Cris. I was able to raise my score by 200+ points. I would definitely recommend; Cris was easy to work with, flexible, and was definitely very helpful.
After taking a couple practice SAT’s, I was doing pretty well but wanted to improve my score. Khan Academy was pretty useful but didn’t help with tactics for taking the test. Because of this, I went to Flatirons tutoring and really enjoyed the tutoring. I learned the test much better, incorporated what I learned into my practice, and improved my score by 80 points in only a couple weeks. Definitely recommend, at least a try!
I have been out of school for a bit and not taken math for even longer but am learning how to program for a new job. I am jumping into calculus at a college level and was extremely nervous. Working with Cris (remotely) was beyond helpful. He helped me brush up on basics in algebra, trigonometry and pre calc in one session. Feeling much more confident and ready to jump back in. I will be reaching out again next time I need help! Thanks Cris
COVID and online learning created a bit of a challenge for our son. He had always been a straight A Honors student and wanted to continue with those goals despite the challenges of COVID. Cris came highly recommended after some unsuccessful trials with other tutors. Cris took the time to get to know our son both on a personal and educational level—which created a great fit! His personal connection with our son, helped open the door for more learning and advancement. Our son’s goal was met and we will continue to use Cris and Flatirons tutoring in the future.
I just finished up my senior year of high school, and this semester I was enrolled in a college level calc class. Right away, I found that this class was very challenging and I was in need of some help if I wanted to maintain my GPA. That's when I reached out to Cris. Right away, he was super nice and offered to call to talk about what I was struggling with and how he thought he could help and I was very impressed! He was extremely flexible with when we could set up times to meet which was great because my schedule could get very busy with school events and other things. He helped me work through problems that I didn't understand, and then had me repeat back the steps we took to get to the answer so that I was able to remember everything by putting it in my own terms. Overall, super friendly and great experience. I was nervous about my grade dropping before tutoring but glad I reached out because I ended the class with a high A!
We appreciated that Mr Chacon tailored the tutoring session to what our son needed to prepare for the SAT. He spent time going over previous practice tests and gave good insight into how to better approach some of the questions and how to best use his test time. Our son was able to increase his overall score by 90 points.
My son had been trying to get ahead of his current math class, so we first decided on Chris because he was my son's previous physics teacher. When my son came back from his first lesson, I could tell that it was a good choice because he already had a clear understanding of the start of his course. My son eventually came to pass his course easily with Chris' help, and was well prepared for his next math class. Chris was clear in communicating, had a decent understanding of my son's goals and course desires, and most of all held my son's priorities above his own.
Cris Chacon at Flatirons Tutoring helped my daughter, Emily, with math in high school. Emily felt very overwhelmed and confused. Chris tutored her weekly. He was able not only to build her self-confidence, but to explain word problems and equations so that she could understand them and do the work on her own. Cris is incredibly knowledgeable, kind and professional. He is easy to communicate with and always prompt and efficient. I would highly recommend his services to anyone challenged academically.
Our son was struggling with Math. Mr Chacon was his teacher and already showed a high level of engagement and desire to see our son succeed. We were excited to know he would be willing and able to tutor our son. Our son connected with Mr Chacon on various levels but his desire to see our son do well was the single greatest motivator for our son to continue and enjoy his time. The one on one help really made a difference due to the specific help he needed vs the general teaching that goes on in a classroom which is understandable. There is a door to success that needs to be walked through by parents and also the student which can be daunting but we would highly recommend it. Tutoring and especially with Mr Chacon will help but only if engaged in. I couldn't recommend Mr Chacon more!
Knowledgeable, professional
Cris is very helpful and smart. He helped me get through math and science when I needed help. He makes sure to ask questions so that I explain my thinking and gives the right feedback to help me learn how to solve problems myself without doing it for me, but can also teach me concepts I don’t yet know.
