About Valerie
Hi there! I am a local teacher who loves to help students feel successful in the journey that is learning. Currently I teach 4th grade, but I have taught 2nd grade and pk-8 STEM in years past.
I have tutored various subjects over the past 8 years, including math ranging from Kindergarten concepts to Geometry, reading K-5, and other aspects of literacy.
I believe that learning should be fun and student-led, but it should build essential skills to ensure that students are successful in (and out of) the classroom.
I am trained in all the best practices of teaching, pull from methods in contexts for learning, the science of reading, and units of study. I believe that a "one size fits all" is a disservice to the unique way each child's brain works, and I aim to find the method that fits each student.
I have my M.Ed. in Education technology and engage in continual professional development to keep up with best practices.
