I have a modern approach to teaching a traditional art. With over 25 years of experience, I approach each student as an individual and coach them in a manner that best suits their physical and emotional needs.
I believe the practice of martial arts has the ability to help people improve their lives and the lives of everyone they come into contact with.
I've always enjoyed helping others learn new skills. It was a natural process for me to move into teaching martial arts. My first teaching "job" was in 2002, when I taught kick boxing at a gym in Southern California.
Over 25 years martial arts experience, as well as experience working as a personal trainer and kick boxing instructor. Certified Instructor by the Atlantic Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation.

If it's a child, I make sure they have a chance to get comfortable with me and the environment, then I gauge their physical and emotional ability to work on things that are new and challenging.
With teens and adults, I have a conversation about their goals and their athletic background so we can set realistic expectations for their progress.
My students have ranged in age from 3 to 78 years old. I've worked with special needs children and adults with health issues as well as people in perfect health.
Approach the martial arts not as a hobby, but as a system to help you navigate life. Look for an instructor that has similar morals and values to your own. Don't settle!
Belt testings are always a special time for me. My students get to display their newly acquired skills and build more confidence on themselves.
Testing also provides me with an opportunity to see where I can improve as an instructor.

What is your main objective in looking at martial arts as an activity for yourself or your children. What do you hope it will help with?
Do you have enough free time to give martial arts a good try? I recommend no less than 2 days a week.
Do you want a school that is more family oriented, sport centric or realistic in their approach to teaching martial arts?

Jesse is truly an extraordinary person and coach. His ability to be gently firm with the kids is invaluable! I especially appreciate his genuine concern for the kids and their families. Jesse has heart, drive and passion. My son has grown so much from attending karate with Jesse, and he really enjoys it (big deal for us!). I honestly can't say enough great things about Jesse...if he decided to teach ballet we'd probably drop karate and follow him to the dance studio!
Jesse is an awesome teacher with so much patience. He sets standards for class and holds the kids to it but also has fun with them too. It has really helped our son being in his class and we love the values and morals he teaches on top of karate. Great teacher, great class and we enjoy going.
