About Elizabeth
Hello!
I am an experienced and tenured NYS licensed high school teacher, specializing in Regents prep.
I hold dual licenses and a Masters degree in education, but more importantly I truly commit to every student I have. I work with SpED, ELL, and SIFE students from all backgrounds, and pride myself on using creative and engaging methods to help kids retain information — the biggest compliment you could ever pay me is that I make history fun for you. :)
Because of my modified work schedule during this current pandemic, I find myself with a lot of free time during the day. If I could help with your child’s academic progress during that time, it would make me really happy.
First lesson would be free of charge to discuss expectations and see if we are a good fit. Consequent lessons would be $40, but if you are struggling, as we all are in this pandemic, please reach out anyway and I will try to meet you in the middle.
References are of course available upon request, and I hope you are all staying safe.
I love convincing kids that history is interesting! The world we know today is the product of millions of individual decisions stretching back thousands of years - isn't that amazing?! History only repeats if we don't listen -- and for me, having our kids recognize these enduring themes helps them better understand not only the past, but the present too.
I left an unsatisfying corporate job and jumped headfirst into a profession where I could work closely with blossoming humans. :) Best decision ever.
I am a tenured NYS-licensed high school teacher with a MSc in Education and dual licenses in History and English. I specialize in the new Regents exam and history essay writing. I am also currently a teaching fellow with Stanford University.

Getting to know my students is the most important part of the teaching process for me. I always want students to be comfortable with me and know that they are the captain of our little learning ship! I need to know what motivates them, what discourages them, how they learn best, what makes them feel successful, and what they need to work on. One size never fits all!
I have worked with high school students of many classifications - ELL, SPED, SIFE, D-75, and I have adored them all!
You (hopefully) know your learning style and what works best for you. If you don't, it's an important thing to think about. Look for a teacher whose philosophy aligns with your learning style. Every teacher, just like every student, is different :) The fact that you are looking for extra help is an extremely positive sign! Good luck with your search.
My students recently have gotten really into creating their own history memes, and they are mindblowingly hilarious and clever :)
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What makes you feel successful? What topics of history have you found interesting? What have you found boring? What is your one-semester goal, and what is your one year goal?

What I love about working with Ms kaishi is that she is super understanding but yet strict enough to get me align and get me learn, needless to mention that her class was super fun and was the one I always look forward too in going, she puts a lot of hard work into her activities so students can enjoy them and learn.
Her attitude towards teaching was Always positive and she tried her best to do better every time she taught a lesson. She soaked up knowledge from outside of the classroom also to use that as and advantage to teaching and not a lot of teachers do that. This woman is definitely one of the top teachers in the country and she be awarded for all of her hardwork.
learn the stories of everything our planet has gone through over the years.
Ms. Kaishi is one of the most knowledgeable and understanding teachers I’ve ever had. She takes into account where you stand with your studies and works to acclimate to the way you learn. Not to mention she’s incredibly sweet and beyond innovative. She often comes up with new games and activities in order for her students to learn better. I wish I could go back in time and truly appreciate learning with her even more. With that said, If you need someone who’s dependable, respectable and incredible- Ms. Kaishi is the teacher you’ve been missing all these years.
Honestly before this I didn’t really like History or think about it. I’m more into math then the humanities but after this I have a whole new outlook on the world and the progression of humans in this world. I had no idea of the impacts of Neolithic Revolution has on everything or how each religion is prosperous and interesting in its own way even if I do not follow them. Most interesting was Classical and ancient civilizations which were explained in various ways. Ms.Kaishi made a neat project where one had to write from an explorers perspective. Not to ramble on in all, if global is something that you want to definitely master I guarantee she's got your back and you'll probably end up liking the it as a whole!
She has a lot actives, also she was very dynamics and very sweet , AI LOVE HER
It was very engaging and entertaining, I loved it the most when we would do group work activities, personally i felt they were the best part of class time.
It didn’t feel as stressing as my other regents preps. Ms Kaishi has easy straight forward lessons that not only help us as students understand clearly but also stay focused. My biggest struggle when it comes down to regents prep is staying on task but that wasn’t an issue with Kaishis prep. She also does a great job clarifying any questions and I’ve never had an issue
Since it was my freshmen year in high school, I appreciate a welcoming feeling and I could say that I felt very welcomed and ready to learn when I first walked through my teacher’s door. The learning experience was at a good pace, not too fast and not too slow, it was perfectly paced and I feel like I learned a lot of new things I did not know before. The teacher was willing to make us learn with a few activities that we could relate too and that would also make the classroom setting fun and have our pencils moving and our minds working.
The way she teach her class is just amazing, she make sure that everyone understands the topics and make interesting. I learn a lot with her and understood every topic very well, I couldn’t ask for a better teacher for Global History.
I loved the activities the teacher assigned to my class, they were fun and very interactive.
What I liked about ms.kaishi she made sure everyone was on the same page no matter how long it took to get everyone on the same page she made sure she did her job to get everyone to understand and feel comfortable with the lesson.
