I took guitar lessons from Marv for about five years. With his instruction and encouragement my confidence and playing improved significantly. Marv has the patience and a teaching style that help his students relax and enjoy the sessions. He is open to working on a favorite song that you would like to learn. I really enjoyed it when he introduced me to Gypsy Jazz and helped me learn this new genre. It enhanced my playing ability. It is rare to find a guitar instructor who offers hour-long lessons. Marv really enjoys what he does and loves to see his students improve. He continues to take lessons himself and explore different areas and styles.

Marv is an outstanding musician and, in my opinion, could be touring and playing in a recording studio. We are fortunate to have him in our area.

I’ve learned much and had fun at the same time. I had self taught the banjo but understood very little of what i was doing. I'm retired and I've never played an instrument.

Marv doesn't put emphasis on reading music or music theory, but on playing. He's adapted to my needs as an older beginner. He listened when I explained that I was frustrated with one of his methods and changed the program to suit me.

When I do have questions about music theory and it's application, he gives me great answers.

He's laid back and has a great sense of humor, too. The lessons are fun and I'm making real progress.

Marv has been giving my son, that is now 12, banjo lessons for 2 years and just started giving my 13 year old guitar lessons. He is patient and does a great job teaching them banjo and guitar. His lessons are very inexpensive for the amount of time he devotes. My kids have learned so much from him and everyone that hears them play are impressed with what they have learned!
