About Blake
I am a sophmore student at Duke University, majoring in Psychology. I have always enjoyed working in groups and have a history of helping my friends and peers on confusing subjects in school. Of course, I have received my fair share of outside help as well, so I can recognize the need for a second, more personalized explanation away from the classroom. English and writing have always been my strong suit, and my passion for these subjects has only increased through the courses I have taken since high school. I love working with children of all ages, along with high schoolers, and I believe I can have a strong, positive impact on your/your child's education.

For new students, I always like to have a few minutes of introductory conversation to learn about them and build a little bit of a relationship between us. I love to get a copy of what we will be working on ahead of the session, if possible, so that I can ensure I am fully prepared on the current subject matter. I prefer starting off with having the student walk me through how they would approach and attempt the problem at hand. If there is a level of understanding from the student, I believe it is best to have them work through problems with me there to help guide and assist through the process. Especially with writing, I find that it is most helpful to tweak and develop one's processes rather than making them learn a whole new system. However, I know that it is often helpful to watch someone work through a problem first, if confused even where to begin with. In these cases, I like to propose my own problem, similar to the question at hand, and walk the student through it so that they can subsequently complete their assigned work.
