I have three years of experience as a peer-to-peer writing tutor at Butler University where I mentored as well as tutored, specializing in brainstorming and analysis.
For one month I was a teacher-therapist at Englishton Park Summer Camp, primarily doing behavioral therapy while tutoring children (ages 8-11).
I have one year of experience as a Student Success Coach working as a teaching aid to a 9th grade history classroom. I worked with students daily to stay on top of grades and assist them in both academic and social-emotional learning. I have first-aid and trauma-informed teaching certification.

What is the priority for the student or parent? Whether its grades, projects, or certain skills, I start each session with an overview of our 'progress map.' What will we get done today? What should we be thinking about now to improve our focus now? I typically ground our attention in the right task and then proceed with our time from there.
I have prior experience working with students who have learning difficulties such as ADHD and dyslexia, as well as students with other emotional/social, or behavioral challenges.
I take the time to build rapport with students, especially those whose learning may benefit from a positive student-educator relationship.
When looking for the right teacher, always consider your own needs and what your style of learning is. The best teachers work to your strengths, keep your goals in mind, and hope you can teach them something too.
