About Kaitlyn
I am a Senior at North Carolina State University majoring in Political Science. Over the last several years, I have spent time tutoring my peers and other students from my hometown and beyond. Learning is a passion of mine, and I originally got into tutoring in order to extend that passion to other students who may be struggling with enjoying or succeeding in the learning process.
I have a wide variety of experience in a number of different subjects. The ones I am most advanced in are the following: writing, reading, spelling, vocabulary, test prep, writing (of all sorts), proofreading, social sciences, humanities, government and political science, history, international/real estate and family law in beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.
I am also working on my Spanish minor and have taken 6 semesters of Spanish up to this point, with two semesters left to go. I am confident in my abilities to tutor in beginner level Spanish, as well.
My teaching style is very student-oriented. I like to take a minute to chat with my students/their parents (depending on age) during our first session to discuss what their overall and specific goals are and what teaching/learning style they prefer. I have learned that this method allows me to individualize my teaching to each student in order to reap the greatest benefits from our time together as possible!
I am a Senior in Political Science and North Carolina State University. I have also been a tutor for my peers as well as students from my hometown and beyond during my time in college. This experience has given me the tools I require to be an effective tutor for a number of age ranges in a number of subjects.

During our first session, I always take time to chat with my student (and their parents depending on age) about what their goals are and what ways they believe they learn best, whether that is visual, oral, written or hands-on. I often will have students write down their goals so if they ever feel frustrated with their progress, they can look back at their original goals and see just how much they really have progressed over the course of our time together!
From this conversation, I individualize my teaching styles to every student in order to ensure they are in an environment in which their learning will not only be enjoyed, but will thrive.
Every session, I like to take just a few minutes to check in with my students to see how they feel they are progressing. We will discuss what they still are not confident in and we will begin our session with that. Once that point of concern is taken care of adequately, we will move on to other secondary concerns.
Ensure that the teacher you are interested in hiring in any area of expertise is not only experienced, but willing to alter their teaching style in order to accomodate your learning style. This is one of the most important things, in my opinion, in a teacher. Students should not have to feel like they are struggling to learn the material because of something that can so easily be resolved.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think students should think about what their learning style is as well as their primary and secondary concerns in whatever subject we are working on. This will allow teachers to get a feel for what they need to prepare as well as giving students an opportunity to verbalize their needs and concerns.
