About Venice
Hi! My name is Venice and I'm a criminology major hoping to become a criminal justice lawyer. I love writing, especially college application essays, and I'm super passionate about helping others reach their academic goals.
I tutored elementary and middle school for 3 years, and did peer tutoring my last 2 years of high school. I'm experienced in Spanish, U.S History, Psychology, and Religious Studies as well, so if you ever need help in those subjects feel free to contact me!
I graduated Bishop O'Dowd High School with a 4.6 GPA my senior year, and a 3.6 cumulative while balancing cross country and symphonic band as extracurriculars. I'm a Regents Award and Bay Scholar recipient, and I was accepted to 12/13 of the colleges I applied to. I also scored 4s and 5s in AP Psychology, AP English Literature, AP Spanish Language, & AP Studio Art exams.
Aside from tutoring, I run a custom press on nail business.

Meeting students and hearing about their experiences is the most fun part of teaching for me. I get to know students so much through their writing, and seeing them set and achieve their academic goals is extremely rewarding. I value education greatly and love when I work with people who have the same enthusiasm and energy to invest in their academic growth.
I started teaching as a volunteer at my local elementary and middle schools, and I peer tutored in high school. I love working with kids, and I love learning and seeing others reach their academic goals, so tutoring is the perfect combination for me. In high school I peer tutored for free, but now that I'm in college I need the financial support to fund my education and necessities.
I volunteered with Community Reading Buddies for a year where I mentored several pre-school and elementary students to improve their reading comprehension skills. One of my students only spoke Spanish, and I was able to teach her conversational English during my time there.
In total, I have about 5 years of tutoring experience from pre-school through high school ages.

Of course the first thing I do is get to know the student by asking their hobbies and interests. Then, I ask how they feel about the subject they need help in. In doing this, we plan lessons in a way that addresses the confidence aspect of learning, so over time the "least favorite subject" becomes less daunting. From there we create goals and begin tutoring.
I'm very familiar with students from low-income households, so I'm experienced with teaching children who may have more going on outside of the academic context. I understand, and I'm completely open to meeting you or your child's academic needs.
Of course, I can teach students outside this description, but I feel the need to specify that this is a safe space for low-income students!
Make sure you find a teacher who is invested in your growth and willing to fit you into their schedule in any way they can! Look for someone who puts 100% effort into their work.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Nothing! Students should feel comfortable enough to tell all their needs to their teachers, and teachers should be capable of setting boundaries for what is in their control as educators.

Very knowledgeable about english in general. Easy to talk to and extremely friendly. Great tutor all around I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for any extra help regarding essays of any sort!
There is so much to say I’m not sure exactly how to word it! Venice Albania helped me proofread many essays in our Honors English courses together, as well as teaching me the basics of proper grammar and syntax within my writing. She always offers clear and concise feedback, and it’s evident she truly understands this subject well. I definitely wouldn’t be the writer I am today if not for her generous help. I wholeheartedly recommend her to others, you’ll be in good hands if you go through her services.
I had a wonderful experience with this tutor. She didn’t just give my son the answers, but really gave him the tools to become a better writer on my own. As an educator myself, I would recommend her whole heartedly.
Venice helped me restructure an entire essay I was writing and it worked out great! great with literary analysis and lens work and explains what she means very clearly :)
Venice is a very thoughtful and well equipped tutor. She helped me a lot in various english classes. I would recommend her to anyone looking for writing support, whether it's literature based or creative writing.
Feedback was given to me within a reasonable time. Feedback given was actually really helpful!

I charge $20/hour or $10 for proofreading and written feedback on essays. However, I will accept higher payments if anyone feels inclined. I keep my pricing at $20 to be available to low-income families who cannot afford personal tutors, as I come from the same background.
