About Carmel
I focus on active learning techniques during our sessions. We complete numerous practice problems where we increase intensity of the topic to ensure when the session is over you feel confident in your knowledge.
I enjoy seeing students realize their potential! There is no shame in asking for help and seeing student's "ah-ha" moments make it all worth it!
I am a certified tutor with the College Reading and Learning Association through Stephen F. Austin State University since 2015. The Academic Assistance and Resource Center (AARC) of the university supported me during my employment as a chemistry tutor from 2015-2018 while earning my B.S. in Biochemistry Magna Cum Laude. I worked at UT Southwestern Medical Center and continued to tutor independently from 2018-2021.

I like to start on knowng what the student's goals are and what they like to do for hobbies- besides academics. Typically, I ask the students what topics they are having trouble on and ask to see their notes to observe their learning styles through them. We work through a few problems so I can gage the student's confidence in the topic. From here, the session is then tailored to the student's needs and learning styles.
