About Danielle
Danielle has been teaching the cello for ten years and it is her greatest joy to share what she has acquired through her training with the next generation of cellists. She has a passion for finding compatible methods, pieces, and practice strategies that work for the individual student. Danielle aims to create lessons that she would have enjoyed during her years as a student, while appropriately helping the student push the boundaries of their own perceived limits. Danielle is also the founder and director of a one week cello festival called The Cello Camp, which includes a cello orchestra, small chamber ensembles, combined with summer fun. Danielle has won numerous awards and competitions for her cello playing. She was invited to perform with the Norwalk Symphony as a featured soloist with renowned jazz musician Chris Brubeck and his band Triple Play. She also performed with Glenn Frey at Town Hall to promote his solo album After Hours and with the entire Eagles band at the Beacon Theater.
Danielle studied music at the Manhattan School of Music, Boston University's Tanglewood Institute, McGill University’s Schulich School of Music, in addition to New York University's Steinhardt school. She earned her bachelor's degree in cello performance under the instruction of Matt Haimovitz and Marion Feldman and her master's degree in film composition at New York University. While she was a student at Staples High School Danielle studied cello with Lois Errante and was a member of the Norwalk Youth Symphony Principal Orchestra. Danielle has performed as a soloist, orchestra member, chamber musician, and band member at various venues including Avery Fisher Hall, Carnegie Hall, The Beacon Theater, Ozawa Concert Hall, Town Hall, CAMI Hall, The Shed at Tanglewood, Joe’s Pub, Lowe Theater, Provincetown Playhouse, and the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.

When working with a new student, my first goal is to develop a rapport and convey to the student that I am on their team to help them get to their next desired goal on the cello. I believe when students feel relaxed and comfortable in the lesson, they are able to more easily absorb new concepts. Secondly, it is vital to me to quickly take note of what teaching techniques may most appropriately fit with the students learning style. I also like to communicate my favorite practice strategies upfront and set expectations for what the student will be able to accomplish based on how much time they are able to practice in between lessons.

I've taken lessons with Danielle for three years now. Not only is she a remarkable cellist, but a terrific teacher. Danielle is always so patient and encouraging-- I have always been comfortable asking for help or clarification.
