About Meetal
I offer Indian basics cooking lessons so that budding chefs can conquer any apprehension in dealing with Indian spices, proteins, and cooking methods. I LOVE to cook and personally believe that Indian food is truly incredible and can be made easy with the right guidance. In addition to being delicious, Indian cuisine is healthy, covers all major food groups, and can easily be made vegetarian or vegan. I am very proud of my cooking abilities and my Indian heritage and would be happy to teach interested individuals how to master a basic Indian meal that can be replicated at home!
I love working with eager adult learners and truly helping them translate my passion for food into meals they can create at home. I also love getting to know different people, sharing stories, swaping recipes, and just enjoying an evening of food, recipes, and cooking techniques. I get a lot of pleasure in teaching someone how to master something they never thought they could do!
Basically, I just LOVE to cook- I love food and everything about it. I am a self-taught home chef and cooking is my passion and greatest creative outlet. I am a certified cooking instructor with Arlington County Adult Education and am trying to pick up a few classes in Fairfax County as well. I am also Indian in background and have watched my mother cooking my whole life!

I would immediately reach out to the interested student to guage their skill level and figure out what he/she wants to learn. The next step would be to develop a menu that the student is excited about and feels comfortable with. I would also suggest an introductory phone call so the student feels comfortable coming to my home and I would be happy to share additional information about myself during this conversation. I want my student to be happy, learn something, and absolutely not leave my home hungry!
