George is an extremely kind and patient coach. His knowledge partnered with his talent and experience make the lesson an incredible one. He encourages you to find the best in you to bring out.
George is very patient and creative! He had great ideas to bring inexperienced or shy people out of their shells. George also demonstrated his versatility and used that to show us various ways to use our own talents. I will most definitely go to George Trahanis for more coaching sessions!
This won't be short! Sorry!
I can't say enough about George Trahanis as a voice acting coach (and as a person).
The voice acting classes I took with him were so terrific that I am on my second Voice Acting series of classes with him.
George has this incredibly effective way of teaching. He richly instructs you yet allows you and others to use their own critical thinking and judgement, alongside his own and it gives you this incredibly stimulating atmosphere.
He encourages you to practice, focus, take the craft seriously and to make dilligent efforts for yourself.
Also, he will make the effort for individualized time and attention. If you need to voice act your script three times before it's good he will make that effort and give you that time and push you to get it right. But in a totally unpressuring way.
George Trahanis truly wants you to be better.
I think his power in being motivational comes in part from the fact that he is a working and successful voice actor himself.
He knows from whence he speaks! He actually performs the craft he teaches. He is so productive in his own professional life, and he tells us about some of what he is doing professionally to earn income from voice acting and it is contagious and we try to be productive too.
You think: Hey! If he can do it I want to try it too!
And he is so good in his skill you see the level he has achieved so you have this incredible clear picture of how good you could be. He sets the goal high just from you watching him perform!
George's classes are one of the best series of workshops I have ever had. He always says in the beginning of the workshop that he is not in charge of the workshop and that he is just facilitating it. I love it! He truly does!
Inotherwords, George never tries to dominate or overpower and he lets all participants partake and give their feedback freely and to play an active part in the workshop.
George is not guided by ego! That is so impressive to me. He is truly guided by watching peoples' skills grow. He allows everybody's intelligence and critiquing to be put to work.
Yet George still has command of the class! Not easy to do! And not everyone can do that! He finds that balance between a structured yet a fluid environment!
It is a "safe" place. You feel comfortable getting the courage to perform in front of others. Yet it is still a disciplined class and every second of it is productive. There's no wastage of time.
I leave class every single time invigorated and like I have truly learned and improved myself and my voice acting skill.
That's another thing. George is very encouraging and positive but he does not give false compliments.
That is so important to me because I don't want to make all the effort to go to class just to be told how wonderful I am. I want all my efforts to count for something and to keep improving. I want to get to another level. And this is what George provides you with.
But he never makes you feel badly about yourself. He'll tell you what's good in your performance but also what needs improvement.
Lastly, George is earnest. That is an incredible quality he has and that word describes him so well. He is a very warm and sincere person, full of love in his heart but he is no mealy-mouthed pansy! He says what he means and means what he says! So you believe him!
And if he thinks you need to work on something he will tell you with no hesitation, but he tries to make you see it first yourself.
Along with his gentle instruction he has a little bit of fire too in a you-can-do-it way!
If something needs guiding he will guide at those times. He doesn't want you to waste your time or money. He wants you to get everything out of his class and coaching. He is not stingy!
Lastly, his corrections are often multi-dimensional. He gets "inside" of you sometimes and in his perceptiveness he will just say something to you that suddenly makes you more self-aware and you will break through some of your "blocks" and suddenly you are reading your script infinitely better!
In ending, I can say that George is just one of those kinds of special people that you just genuinely like on all levels, and who really garners your respect.
He is an incredibly likeable person and a terrific coach.George welcomes you into class with an open mind and an open heart. He has a natural gift for conveying information in an informative way that helps you learn, grow, and become the best version of yourself. Great for any beginner or an established voice artist that needs a refresher in the fine art of voice work.
He is very talented, professional and an excellent, patient instructor!
Extremely patient and professional. His approach really helped me access my "voiceover voice." Friendly and very approachable.
