About Spencer
We know what it means to have fun, WHILE learning. For many, learning can be a painful experience, especially when venturing into the highly vulnerable craft of acting.
But it doesn't have to be that way!
I've spent the past 6 years learning how to make the creative process as easy, fulfilling and safe as possible. When you're with me you don't have to worry about messing up, or looking stupid (or anything else your self critic might be telling you). I fundamentally believe that trying is an act of courage and that's all I ever ask my students to do.
So come on! Try! Fail! Try again! Fail better!
And most of all... have fun doing it.

I enjoy watching people be themselves.
At first, students are naturally a little bit nervous, but over time, they release the walls they keep up to protect themselves from getting hurt and that's when the real sunshine comes out.
Everyone wants to be more them, more brave, more confident, more whatever. In my class we begin to learn that maybe we're already more than we think we are.
I love watching my students begin to understand that, and once they begin to understand that? That's when they really start becoming actors.
I started teaching years ago, while I was still in college, but the interest developed very early on. When I was a young student I often felt unreachable and over-looked, I was hyperactive and didn't respond to lessons the way other kids seemed to. That disparity grew into a passion for contacting my students by whatever means necessary. I am fully invested in understanding you and understanding what you need to get where you want to go.
I trained at UNCSA most notably; home to actors such as Lucas Hedges, Elisabeth Lail, Isaac Cole Powell, Gus Halper, Danny McBride, Mary Louise Parker, Jada Pinkett Smith, Brett Gelman, Michael Abbot Jr, among many others.

First things first. Let's determine what you want.
What are your dreams?
Where are you standing? What are you holding? A Tony? An Oscar? Or do you just feel more comfortable in your own skin?
Whatever they are, these dreams will determine exactly what we'll focus on.
After that the syllabus is set and all systems are a go! Every once and a while we'll discuss where you are in relationship to your goals and if necessary adjust accordingly.
I have worked with all manner of students over the years; adults, children, people interested in acting as a career, or people just interested in exploring the craft, I've worked with beginners and seasoned actors, famous and non famous actors. Over the years, I've done it all.

Perfect! Spencer Bang is not only professional, but he knows his stuff. He truly cares about the success of his students in the acting craft. I worked with him for a short time due to life circumstances, but I would take him back in a heartbeat. I recommend anyone ready to make acting a priority to choose him as an instructor.

This guy was great. Helped me with acting and my self esteem.
I liked this class a lot! I learned how to break down scenes a little better and learned how to use a structured approach to acting. For instance, trying different tactics to make the scene more engaging to watch.
I liked how hands on and patient he was. At first I was really nervous because I've never really done this but he was patient and in time I learned how to let go a little bit

Awesome stuff! Im a 42 year old gentleman with NO EXPERIENCE WHATSOEVER but I really wanted to give stage acting a shot. We met virtually, and despite my initial reservations about the medium, I was more than happy with the result. Go with Spencer! Wooh!
I've wanted to act since I was a little kid, but have struggled with my confidence during auditions. I heard about Spencer from a family friend who said that he'd helped his son book a local production in NY.
I was initially nervous about whether an acting coach was what I needed, but after my first session with Spencer I knew he was the right choice. Super encouraging and fun teacher.
