Hi! I'm Martin. I'm a guitarist/composer with 35+ years of experience playing, performing, recording, writing, and teaching. I was a University lecturer (teaching composition, music technology, studio techniques) for 24 years. I have performed over 1500 shows and played, recorded or produced a number of records. I have some availability to take on a few guitar students (any level), particularly those interested in learning the guitar as a performance/recording instrument. If you are a songwriter, composer or producer and you would like to get better at using the guitar for that purpose, then I am probably the teacher for you. Some of the things I can teach you: - music theory foundations applied to modern music - sight reading music notation - recording guitar - writing effective guitar parts - using guitar pedals and processors If you opt to take lessons with me, we will first have a consultation meeting to discuss your needs (What do you want to learn? What do you know already? What is your goal?) and I would present you with a teaching plan with specific achievable goals. I will also provide you with learning materials such as practice tracks and written exercises. I teach in my own recording studio or using video software (Google Meet plus Sonobus, for higher sound quality). I look forward to hearing from you!

Perfect! Martin starts from where you are and makes learning relevant to what you want to achieve. So every lesson is a Great Leap Forward in understanding. He is patient and interesting and able to keep me motivated when my brain turns to mush or my fingers won’t go where they are meant to. Would highly recommend to anyone at any level who is committed to progressing.

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
I’ve known Martin for 4 years, and in that time he’s been my lecturer, collaborator and we’ve played in two bands together. I’ve always trusted his opinion when it comes to all things music, particularly when it comes to music performance, where he is no novice. I can also tell you from personal experience that he’s not only knowledgable in Music performance but is able to pass on this knowledge in a way that can meet all ability levels. If your looking to learn guitar, this is your teacher.
Martin is the smartest person I know, he’s been teaching me for around 4 years now.
He’s an amazing teacher, he’s caring, patient, and has a way of explaining things really clearly which makes the hard subjects seem easy. I recommend his services 100%!View more recommendations
