About Nancy
Hi there! I’m a certified Special Education Teacher (M.Ed) with years of experience teaching in both general education and special education classrooms. Before becoming a SPED teacher, I spent many years as a general education teacher, so I truly understand how to connect what students are learning in the classroom with the individualized support they need to thrive. I specialize in helping students build confidence, close learning gaps, and develop strong skills in English Language Arts and Math. My lessons are structured, supportive, and tailored to each learner’s needs—breaking big concepts into smaller, achievable steps that make learning feel clear and rewarding. I believe every child is capable of success when given the right tools, encouragement, and a teacher who believes in them. My approach combines academic expertise with empathy and patience, creating a positive environment where students feel safe to take risks, ask questions, and celebrate progress. Whether your child needs extra support to master grade-level standards or just a confidence boost to reach their full potential, I’m here to help them learn, grow, and feel proud of their progress every step of the way.

My tutoring approach is centered on meeting students where they are and helping them close learning gaps through structured, scaffolded lessons that connect directly to what they’re learning in their general education classrooms. I use a hands-on, explicit, and step-by-step teaching method that makes challenging skills easier to understand. I often: Break down complex concepts into smaller, manageable parts, Use visuals, color-coding, and modeling to make abstract ideas concrete, Reinforce learning with guided practice before moving to independent work, Integrate real-life examples so students can connect lessons to everyday experiences, Use data and feedback from gen-ed teachers to align my instruction with classroom goals.
