About Elizabeth
I am a passionate, enthusiastic and approachable Head of Maths with 15 years experience in the UK and abroad. I have taught students at KS3, 4 and 5 including GCSE and IGCSE Mathematics, GCSE Statistics, A Level and International A Level Maths and Further Maths. I have experience of all the major exam boards and have worked as an examiner for Edexcel and trained other teachers to teach GCSE and A Level Maths with Cambridge Assessment. Throughout this time I have tutored individual students in person and online to enormous success.

While I love maths, I understand that not all students do. My aim is to break down students' fears and misconceptions and build up students' confidence. I believe that every student can achieve academic success and learn to appreciate the beauty of maths, no matter their starting point. I would consider it a failure if a student didn't look forward to their next session!
Over recent years, GCSE and A Level exam questions have changed in style and students are increasingly expected to apply their knowledge to brand new situations. I thoroughly prepare my students for this by providing them with the mathematical tools to choose from and developing their problem solving skills.
During sessions, I use a variety of resources including powerpoints, interactive quizzes, challenges and games. I encourage students to discover things for themselves through carefully planned investigations as this promotes a deeper conceptual understanding. The aim is that students will not need to memorise anything before their exam which makes the whole experience considerably less stressful. Their improved logic skills and confidence in themselves also supports their other studies.
