About Alec
I am a first year Economics and Finance student at the University of Manchester, where I study quantitative modules including statistics and mathematical economics alongside my core degree. I achieved A*A*A* at A-Level, with my A* in Maths reflecting a strong foundation in the subject at the highest level.
I am analytical, patient and genuinely enjoy breaking down complex problems into something logical and clear. I believe that most students who struggle with Maths do so because a concept was not explained in the right way the first time, and that with the right approach the subject clicks far more easily than people expect.
Outside of my degree I have experience as a year 7 mentor and hope to use the skills learnt to make the session as engaging as possible. I take tutoring seriously and prepare for each session in advance, so that time spent together is focused and productive.
I am reliable, punctual and easy to communicate with. My goal is not just to help students pass their exams but to give them enough genuine understanding that they feel confident going into the exam room.

I offer online Maths tutoring for GCSE and A-Level across all major exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR).
Every lesson is tailored to the individual. Depending on what the student needs, we might work through past papers, break down a tricky topic from scratch, or target specific weak areas in the run-up to exams. I focus on building genuine understanding rather than memorising methods — the kind that hold up under exam pressure.
Lessons are one hour as standard (two hours available on request), conducted online via video call with a shared whiteboard so we can work through problems together in real time. I prepare for each session in advance and can set follow-up practice between lessons if helpful.
Having sat these exams recently myself, I know exactly where students tend to lose marks and how to fix those gaps efficiently. My goal isn't just to help students pass — it's for them to walk into the exam room genuinely confident.
