About Mia
Hi, I’m Mia! I know firsthand how challenging certification exams can be; I struggled with them myself, but through the right strategies, guidance, and perseverance, I passed. That experience gives me a unique perspective on what works and what can be confusing, and it allows me to guide future teachers with empathy and insight. As a licensed teacher with classroom experience, I combine practical knowledge with clear, step-by-step instruction. My approach is supportive, personalized, and focused on building both content mastery and confidence, so my students are fully prepared to succeed. Whether you’re preparing for the TExES Science 4–8 or Core Subjects exams (EC–6 or 4–8), I’m here to help you navigate the process and reach your goals.

My approach to certification prep is clear, structured, and encouraging. I know these exams can feel overwhelming, so I break down the content into manageable steps and focus on both knowledge and test-taking strategies. I use guided practice questions, simple explanations, and targeted review sessions to help students strengthen weak areas while building confidence in their strengths.
A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previously covered material, followed by focused instruction on one exam domain. We then work through practice problems together, discussing not only the correct answer but also how to identify and avoid common traps. Each session ends with a short reflection and strategies students can apply on their own before the next lesson.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my background as a licensed teacher who has successfully completed these exams. I understand where students often get stuck, and I know how to explain concepts in a way that makes them less intimidating. My goal is not only to prepare students to pass the test, but also to help them feel confident as future educators.

As a parent, I can confidently say that Mia Trousdale is one of the most trustworthy and dedicated teachers I have ever worked with. She has a true passion for teaching and goes above and beyond to help her students feel confident and successful in what they're learning..
I first came to Ms. Trousdale a few years ago when my oldest child was struggling in science. in the 6th grade because he was barely passing his class. I was hoping something online would help since a lot of tutors in town were very pricey, so I wanted to give her a try. Since having seeing Ms. Trousdale, not only did my son catch up in 7th and 8th grade, but they excelled and mastered their 8th grade STAAR test for science!
Now my other child is also working with Ms. Trousdale as an 8th grader, and we are excited to meet with her each week. She makes learning approachable and engaging, and she's always quick to communicate with me even if it's to address a struggle or success..
Mia has been a constant source of encouragement, support, and expertise for my children. I really trust her to guide my children academically, and I could not recommend her more highly to other parents looking for an excellent tutor and teacher.
