About Sumire
My name is Sumi. I am a first-year university student studying Master of Biomedical Science at Monash University. While Japanese is my native language, I also speak English and Korean fluently. I tutor beginner, intermediate, and advanced level Japanese. In my lessons, I cater to the academic needs and wants of my students, thereby effectively supporting their academic success. In my opinion, the best and easiest way to develop Japanese is to communicate and make a habit of primarily using the language. With my guidance and weekly tutoring, your speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills will surely improve. Most importantly, my lessons will help build your confidence both academically and personally. I look forward to seeing you!

I have been teaching Japanese for a year and love helping students build confidence in using the language. My first student started with no background and now works as a chef in Japan. I have also taught junior high school students who are passionate about Japanese culture and anime, and I enjoy tailoring lessons to match their interests. Each class runs for 1 hour and includes key grammar points and essential vocabulary for each chapter. We practice through worksheets that cover speaking, writing, reading, and listening. I always adapt the lesson structure based on each student’s goals and preferences, so we can discuss and adjust the focus anytime to suit your needs.
