About Jillian
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education through Indiana University. I’ve been a teacher for five years. I enjoy taking my dogs on hikes with my husband. I’m a big Harry Potter nerd, a true Ravenclaw at heart. I love a good fair or farmers market. I enjoy cooking and baking. I love all things related to science: insects, nature, astronomy, and psychology to name a few topics.

If you’ve ever said you are not a math person or you can’t do math because you aren’t good at it, I encourage you to think about how you’ve been taught to “do” math. Have you been taught how an operation works or have you been told to follow explicit instructions to arrive at the correct answer? Most teachers teach procedures. I take a different approach. I teach students number sense concepts that build upon their knowledge and skills making them stronger mathematicians.
