About Jessica
Hello, I’m Jess — a former Deputy Head Teacher with over 15 years of experience in primary education, supporting children aged 3–12 across Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
I am passionate about helping children grow not only academically, but also in confidence, resilience and enjoyment of learning. Over my career, I have worked across all areas of primary education, including phonics, early reading, writing, maths, SATs preparation and 11+ entrance support. I have extensive experience supporting children of all abilities, including those with SEND, and pride myself on adapting my teaching to suit each child’s individual needs.
As a former senior school leader, I bring specialist knowledge of the primary curriculum, intervention strategies and pupil progress. I have helped many children close learning gaps, achieve expected or greater outcomes, and secure places at their preferred schools through successful 11+ preparation.
My tutoring style is warm, patient and personalised. I believe every child learns differently, so I create engaging lessons that build skills while also nurturing self-belief. Whether a child needs extra support, exam preparation, or greater academic challenge, I aim to make learning feel positive, achievable and rewarding.
I offer both online and in-person tuition, providing flexible, high-quality support for families.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, yoga and hiking, and I value wellbeing, balance and lifelong learning — principles that also shape my approach to working with children.

With over a decade of experience in primary education, including senior leadership as a former Deputy Head Teacher, I provide expert, personalised tutoring for children across Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, including phonics, early reading, writing, maths, SATs preparation and 11+ entrance support.
My teaching approach is tailored, supportive and results-driven. I understand that every child learns differently, so lessons are carefully adapted to individual needs, whether your child requires confidence-building, targeted intervention, stretch and challenge, or selective school preparation. I combine high academic expectations with nurturing encouragement to ensure children feel motivated, capable and successful.
Sessions are structured to be engaging and purposeful, using a range of proven educational strategies drawn from extensive classroom, leadership and intervention experience.
This may include:
Diagnostic assessment to identify strengths and gaps
Personalised learning plans
Explicit teaching of key skills
Practice and retrieval techniques for retention
Confidence-building through positive reinforcement
Exam techniques for SATs and 11+
Phonics and reading fluency development for younger learners
Lessons are typically 45–60 minutes depending on age, concentration and goals.
