About Rosh

Hi, I’m Rosh, an enthusiastic chess player with 20+ years of experience in playing chess. I’ve been playing since I was 7 years old, and I have captained my team at school, university, and mercantile levels. I’ve also worked as an arbiter for 3 years with younger age groups.

I’m a Software Engineer by profession, and I’ve always loved bringing my strategic thinking and analytical skills into the game. I am a FIDE-rated chess player, a member of the multi-time National Champion school team (2004–2013), a representative of the University Chess team at international tournaments (2017–2022), and captain of the Women’s Champion team at the mercantile level (2023–2025).

I love working with little ones and sharing my knowledge with them!

Perfect! Rosh has been tutoring our 5.5 year old, and we are very happy. She communicates well with juniors, adapts the learning methods accordingly to the student's level, and is good with providing detailed feedback to parents after sessions. Rosh also has training in software engineering which is a huge advantage, and she has been teaching ScratchJr. I'm glad we have been working with Rosh!

Rosh's response
Thank you so much Akan. I truly appreciate your kind words. It has been a wonderful experience working with such an enthusiastic and curious young learner. I genuinely enjoy our lessons and love tailoring each session to make learning both fun and engaging. I'm continually impressed by how quickly she understands complex concepts in both chess and coding, especially at such a young age. Her curiosity, creativity and eagerness to learn make teaching her incredibly rewarding. Thank you as well for your trust, for being so supportive, and for sharing resources that help enrich our lessons. Looking forward to continuing to help her develop her skills and confidence in both chess and coding.

Rosh's response
Had a really great first chess lesson with Calvin! He’s a curious and enthusiastic student who’s always keen to learn and explore beyond his comfort zone. He knows what he wants to achieve and quickly picks up on the areas he can improve. It was a pleasure working with him, and I’m excited to see how far he goes. Wishing you all the best on your chess journey, Calvin!

We met each other in our school days however we played together lately for our workplace. We both worked at LSEG in Sri Lanka. Roshana is a very talented and enthusiastic girl. She is a really good chess player as well as a leader. She led the Women’s Team in LSEG. I have no doubt that she would do her best wherever she goes! I wish her all the very best!
