About Sarah
I have completed a Bachelor's in Architecture and a Master's in Computer Science, both from the University of Bath. Having excelled in my GCSEs and A-Levels, I understand the challenges of learning complex material.
My experience as both a tutee and tutor has shown me the importance of passionate, student-focused teaching. I’ve also worked reviewing maths lessons and worksheets, which has given me insight into how to guide students effectively.
I plan my lessons around the use of practice questions, as I’ve found that diving straight into problems is the most effective way to understand and retain new concepts. My aim is to help students build confidence and truly enjoy the subject while achieving their goals.

My lessons are tailored to each student's individual goals, ensuring that we focus on the areas where they need the most support.
Having transitioned from architecture to computer science, I understand what it’s like to learn new concepts, and I know how a good teacher can shape your understanding of a subject. I start by discussing the student's objectives, which allows me to create a structured plan to achieve them.
I believe in a step-by-step approach, starting with simple examples, explaining the underlying concepts, and gradually moving to more complex problems. The student will then work through an example independently, sharing their thought process, so we can review what went well and what can be improved.
I encourage students to practice and embrace mistakes, as these are essential for mastering topics. A quote I love is, 'Don't practice until you get it right, practice until you can't get it wrong!’

Perfect! Sarah is a wonderful maths tutor. My daughter was genuinely happy after the sessions and felt much more confident with the material. Sarah explains concepts very clearly and takes a holistic approach, adapting her teaching to my daughter’s needs and pace. Sarah is a patient and experienced tutor. She has a deep understanding of Mathematics and is very good at breaking down complex questions. She really helps me to understand each question as opposed to just memorising a method to calculate the answer. This has given me much more confidence to tackle tricky questions in my upcoming exams.
