About Alison
I have been a teacher/senior leader for 30+years (children aged 4-11 years). I have a BEd (Winchester) and a BA psychology (OU). I love supporting children's learning and ensuring that they an strive to be the best they can be. I taught in Year 6 for a large number of years and have a lot of experience preparing children, with a wide range of abilities, for their SATs tests and to get ready for the next steps of their education. As well as this I also have experience working with children with specific needs such as dyslexia, global developmental delay, detachment disorder, autism and English as a second language. I am in the process of completing my TEFL training.

I believe that to learn successfully and become lifelong learners children (and adults) need to be engaged and motivated. It is important to find out what interests them, what their starting points are and build from there - making the child the centre of the learning experience. Lessons should be interesting, have a clear purpose/goals and wherever possible be based on real life experiences that they can relate to - enjoyment and a bit of fun are important too.
