About Stuart
I’ve spent my career helping young people succeed in science — not just by teaching facts, but by showing them how to think like scientists. As an exam board assessor and Cambridge University Press textbook author, I know exactly how examiners mark and what it takes to achieve top results. I’ve been a subject lead and special needs specialist, so I understand that every student learns differently. What excites me most about tutoring is finding the right approach for each individual — turning challenges into strengths, and confusion into confidence. For me, teaching isn’t just about grades (though those matter!) — it’s about helping students believe in themselves, enjoy the subject, and feel ready for whatever comes next.

When I work with a student, my first priority is understanding how they learn best and what their goals are — whether that’s boosting confidence, filling knowledge gaps, or aiming for top exam grades. Lessons are usually an hour long and mix clear explanations, worked examples, and active problem-solving. I use interactive tools online, so students don’t just listen — they practise, get feedback, and see their progress in real time. Every student gets access to a Google Classroom packed with resources: past papers, revision notes, model answers, and extra practice tasks. This means support continues between lessons, not just during them. My background as an exam board assessor, Cambridge University Press author, subject lead, and SEN specialist means I know what examiners look for and how to adapt lessons to different needs. I mainly teach GCSE and A-Level students in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
