About Sofia
I am an university student at ESMAE in Porto. I started playing the violin at the age of 6, at the Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory of Music, in Braga, where I was provided with the most diverse musical experiences. Excited to start spreading knowledge about my passion!

I teach classes to anyone who is interested in starting the violin or who has already joined this instrument. Beginning by first addressing the basics of music theory (musical notes, rhythm, solfeggio, etc.) necessary to read sheet music, I then move on to practice, where in the first lessons I talk a little about the instrument and the position to be taken when playing it. As the student begins to feel comfortable with the instrument, I make scales and progressively move on to more difficult pieces. As the student progresses, I teach new instrument techniques. I approach the subject freely and at the students pace, as I am of the opinion that in an area such as music, one should not rush or force an instrument. I therefore believe that the student will grow to enjoy playing the instrument, instead of feeling forced to do so. Nevertheless, I organize my classes in such a way that, from the beginning, students have a sample of what an organized study is. I have a wide variety of music and violin books of different difficulties, which I usually photocopy for students, in case they don't want to buy them. I always advise you to bring a lined notebook. In my opinion, learning music is an essential skill that, in addition to staying with us forever, implements a huge sense of organization and precision.
