I like to get to know each child first, and decide how much English they know. Once I have established their competency in the language, I customize a curriculum based on reading and comprehension levels. I use a lot of pictures and stories with a lot of pictures. I concentrate on comprehension and vocabulary. That tends to allow the children to integrate much more quickly. I can also tutor them in math and science using some of the same concepts.
