About Nora
I am a PhD student in the National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial College London, where my research focuses on gene therapy for cystic fibrosis. I am an experienced tutor with great enthusiasm for my subjects and I enjoy facilitating the growth of students' academic abilities and fostering their own passions. I believe in creating a comfortable and fun learning environment with students where they feel encouraged and motivated to perform to the best of their abilities. I have obtained distinctions in both a Master's degree in Novel Therapeutics and an undergraduate degree in Biology from Imperial College. I was also awarded a Biology prize in my second year for my academic achievements. During my PhD I have worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in student practicals, and have completed the required training courses, including focuses on assessment and feedback. I have experience tutoring GCSE students in Maths, English, Chemistry, and Biology, including intensive exam preparation. I have also tutored pre-GCSE, and primary school students in English and mathematics. Furthermore, I have experience tutoring maths and biology to students of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP), of which I myself was a student, and I am well versed in the IB Diploma Programme's Biology HL, English Literature HL, and Maths SL subjects and exam formats. Through my public engagement experience as a researcher I have honed my ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences and I enjoy breaking down complex research into understandable and relatable formats. When completing my GCSE’s I required some tutoring for Biology, Chemistry and Maths. Nora was excellent. She really helped me by breaking down concepts and explaining the information into a format that I could understand. She was great at showing me in my past paper questions and exercises where I had gone wrong and instilled the correct method for later on. Always punctual, professional and very friendly.
