About Haruka

I’m Haruka, a native Japanese speaker born and raised in Japan, now living in the suburbs of Montreal.
I love travelling around the world, listening to English and Korean pop music, going to concerts, connecting with people from different cultures, playing The Sims 4, and learning languages.
I studied English at a university in Japan, spent a year studying abroad in the U.S., and participated in the Disney College Program at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
I’m also learning French! When I first moved to Quebec 7 years ago, I didn’t speak any French at all. I attended a language school and completed the government’s francization program, and I’m still continuing my French studies today.
Most of my private students are French speakers from Quebec, Switzerland, and France, so I can teach Japanese in French as well.
I’m also a mom of a French-native child, and besides teaching Japanese, I run my YouTube channel and my original character shop, Harupaka Studio, so I’m involved in a wide range of creative activities!

Je vis dans la banlieue de Montréal depuis 7 ans. Quand je suis arrivée au Québec, je ne parlais pas du tout français. J’ai étudié dans une école de langues et suivi le programme de francisation du gouvernement, et je continue encore aujourd’hui à apprendre le français.
La plupart de mes élèves sont francophones (Québec, France, Suisse), donc je peux enseigner le japonais en français sans problème.
Je suis aussi maman d’un enfant francophone, et en plus de mes cours de japonais, je gère ma chaîne YouTube ainsi que ma boutique de personnages originaux, Harupaka Studio.

Please note that each lesson is 55 minutes long for a 60-minute booking.
I do not teach children under the age of 10.
Based on my own experience learning English, I strongly believe that actively using and speaking a new language is the most effective and fastest way to learn.
For beginners, I can teach in English or French. However, I will encourage you to speak in Japanese as much as possible, even at the beginner level. ;) Don’t worry! I'll help you, of course!
In my lessons, I will ask you commonly used questions, and you will practice answering them in Japanese. This helps you become familiar with verb conjugations and Japanese word order, which many students find challenging.
For intermediate and advanced learners, we will focus on how native Japanese speakers actually communicate. I will introduce slightly challenging vocabulary depending on your level to help you improve further.
You’ll never get bored in my lessons! There will always be new challenges! :)

9:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Perfect! She knows what she is talking about and she is fast enough while being really precise. She understand the way the student learn and catch fast strenght and the weakness of the student. She's also the best teacher that can teach japanese in french, that I ever met.
Perfect! Haruka-san is an excellent teacher. All lessons were very efficient. She teaches like a pro. I took 7 lessons and improved (I beleive!) my beginners-level Japanese, before going to Japan. I also learnt some Hiragana, which was difficult to learn just by myself.
