About Jonty
I am a fun and engaging tutor who is passionate about helping students reach their full potential. I study Natural Sciences at university, a subject that combines mathematics and the three sciences, which allows me to bring both breadth and depth of knowledge to my teaching. I particularly enjoy those “lightbulb” moments when an idea finally clicks for a student, and I aim to create lessons that are supportive, enjoyable, and confidence-building. As Head Boy of my secondary school and sixth form, I gained valuable experience mentoring younger students, which prepared me to work effectively with learners of all abilities and confidence levels. Over the past two years of tutoring, I’ve loved seeing my pupils flourish—both academically and in their self-belief. My goal is to inspire students not just to succeed in exams, but also to develop a lasting confidence and enjoyment in their subject. Please note I am also enhanced DBS checked.

I have always been driven to achieve top grades, and I strive to instil that same passion for learning in my students through enthusiasm, clarity, and a supportive teaching style. Having achieved 11 Grade 9s at GCSE and A*A*A*A in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and EPQ, I am well-placed to share the methods of revision, practice, and problem-solving that helped me succeed. With the courses still fresh in my mind, I can offer students both up-to-date knowledge and proven strategies for exam success. My lessons are personalised to each student. We focus on breaking down concepts during lessons, then consolidating them with targeted practice for homework. I also mark past papers and homework in advance, so lesson time is spent learning, not just reviewing. I specialise in maths tuition, covering KS2 (SATs), KS3 (helping to move up sets), and KS4 (GCSE). By focusing solely on maths, I ensure I remain fully up to date with the curriculum and can provide students with the best possible support. Above all, my goal is not only to help students reach their full academic potential but also to help them gain confidence—and perhaps even discover a love for maths through engaging, enjoyable lessons.
