I have tutored A level students in the past. The method I have found most useful is to spend time talking to the student to really pinpoint where their issues with the subject lie. Its important to me that the student comes away from the lesson feeling confident and happy; knowing they have the necessary tools to continue with maths - and enjoy it. I use thorough examples and encourage the student to ask questions without fear of sounding silly to ensure they have a full understanding of the material.
