I’m an English teacher with experience at the middle school, high school, and college level. Right now, I’m working on an MFA in creative writing at the University of Alabama.

About Anna
I am originally from New York City, but I recently moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to pursue an MFA in creative writing. I love all things reading and writing - so much so that I uprooted my whole life to pursue it. I also have a YA novel-in-verse coming out in December. Because I love the literary arts so much, I want to share it with other people. I don’t just love ELA - I have a ton of experience that makes me qualified to help you. I have a BA in Literature, and a Master's in Adolescent English Education. I taught AP English, ELA, Creative Writing and Journalism to high school students. I also taught ELA, Writing and Test Prep to middle schoolers in an after school / summer program. I also ran anime clubs that doubled as creative writing classes. While I work on my MFA, I’m serving as a GTA for a sophomore college class on American Literature. I also got an 800 on verbal section of the SAT, which is a perfect score. When I’m not reading, writing, or teaching, I’m biking, cooking, watching anime, listening to music, traveling, or exploring my new city.

I have a deep love for all things reading and writing, and I aim to share that with my students. Lessons vary depending on what you are trying to learn. Let’s say you need help with an essay. I would go over the requirements with you, discuss any specific questions or concerns you might have, and then help you come up with a game plan to start, finish or edit your work. Do you need help with an exam like the ELA Exam, English Regents, English section of the SAT, SHSAT, or ACT? We’ll do some practice questions, then target areas of improvement. Want to do creative writing? I have a ton of innovative exercises up my sleeve to help get the words flowing, and I’m also happy to provide feedback on work you’ve already completed. I have worked with high schoolers and middle schoolers in the past. Currently, I’m a GTA in a college level American literature class. So no matter where you are in your educational journey, I can probably help you out.
